Do Dogs Have Personality? | Dog Breeding Basics You Should Know

Have you ever wondered if your dog actually has a personality? You have likely thought of taking them to a local facility to go through very specific types of training. Local dog training facilities are likely in your area. This is one of the most efficient ways to train your dog. They are available in all areas of your area and can be difficult to find, depending on where you live. They will ensure that they will convey dog breeding basics that can help them become much more functional and obedient animals. The facilities have a large variety of obedience schools, dog trainers and specialty training programs available. All the while, you need to incorporate this training with your dog’s personality.

Do All Dogs Have A Distinct Personality?

It would be nice to think that dogs do have a personality. You often see this at home, but it might change once they begin formal training. The type of training you would like to use will be different depending on what type of behavior your dog is exhibiting. Is your dog jumping? Are they chewing? Is your dog making a lot of noise? Is your dog eating your stuff? There are local trainers that specialize in training specific problems. If they are adept at what they do, it will be very easy to teach your dog how to behave.

At What Point Should You Begin To Breed Your Dog

Perhaps one of the most important rules in regard to dog breeding basics is that they need to be a certain age. The facilities offer training that is more about learning a new command, yet it will not prepare them for when they will begin to breed. The trainers will teach you some commands and dog training programs that are specifically for your dog and its behavior. In some cases, this discipline that they will learn will help you once you decide to breed them with dogs that your friend owns, or perhaps someone that contacts you from far away. If your dog is jumping, then the trainers will give you techniques that can help with this problem, and in much the same way, dog breeding, once they get the hang of it, will be much easier for your dog after the first time is over. That’s why this combination of training your dog and preparing them for breeding is very important. Training is offered in a wide variety of formats including video training, books and CDs. Regardless of which decision that you make regarding training your dog, you always must be aware that they will at some point be of breeding age.

Should You Begin The Training Right Away?

With the availability of so many options, you will have to decide what you want your dog to know. Dogs are born with a lot of natural instincts. You are the person that is in charge of what they are doing at that time. You need to decide what is best for your dog. To train using a stick, an electronic collar or a choke collar is something you need to consider. It will make your dog aware that they are doing something wrong. Training your dog, like any other type of dog, is a big responsibility. Do you want your dog to be a model citizen or are you just wanting them to listen to what you say? As they go through this training, and once they start to breed, you will definitely be aware of the changes in their personality, which hopefully will be for the best.

Always Help Your Dogs When It Is Time To Breed

Dogs have a natural instinct to learn. They are a very social animal. They can become stressed and angry when they are bored. This can lead to a lot of behaviors. There is no substitute for letting your dog be a dog. That’s why, once they are ready, you can start breeding them right away to allow them to express this natural instinct which is definitely part of their innate personality.

[, Music ], we are gonna go outside and we’re going to do some basic dog training commands yeah. With these the two Nuggets I’m, actually going to cover a few basic things, really fast outlets or credit, great crate.

Good already so, yes, so a few basic things when it first comes to training, they’re training. Your dogs dogs drive off of a few things, structure, boundaries and leadership or authority. So for structure, the one thing that I would recommend to all dog owners that involves no level of knowing how to train your dog is just simply having your dog being crate trained.

This adds a level of structure and boundaries that most dogs, almost all dogs, are really lacking and they’re craving so having their own space, having a place that they know that they can go to is really important for them, so crate training, your Dogs, a hundred percent is a great way to have structure boundaries as well so having places within your home within your yard that they aren’t allowed to go to it’s really good to establish that, because that also positions yourself As a leader, so for this next part, I’m, going to be going over one of the boundaries which is doors.

A lot of people have problems with dogs just running out the doors because they have a lack of boundaries. They don’t, see as a looking to you for approval school leave, the den so to speak. So we’ll work on that first and then we’ll, go over some basic like leash and collar stuff that you don’t have to do with an e collar, and then I ‘

Ll talk a little bit about ecology stuff. So now let’s or something but [: Music, ], [ Applause, ], okay, pretty girl! What are you doing, hi? What you doing out here? What you doing out here so the first boundary that we’re going to have, is for them to wait at the door to be released and so having them wait before you.

Release them outside is called loading control. So when they’re super excited and from going outside, they’re, less likely to be listening to you because they’re super highly loaded, so think of loading as levels of excitement.

So what we’re gonna do is have them sit patiently and politely before I release them outside, and this also establishes me as the leader so to speak, letting them in in outside of the den so Alice Aurora.

Oh welcome good. Give me good sit good, [, Music ] right okey-dokey, so they’re running around and everything, but we’ll just go through some super basic stuff that has to do with the leash and with their collars.

So atlas c’mere good, yes, good, okay, so colors a lot of people have their dogs colors really low around their neck, almost wearing it like jewelry, and you definitely do not want to do that, because dogs pull all of their strengths from their Chests and that’s, the reason why, when there are sled dogs they wear harnesses, so if you don’t want your dog to pool don’t put a harness on them.

Absolutely not so the thing that you want to do is to have their colors up really nice and high around their neck right behind their ears. You can see his normal color is all the way down here, and so, if he were to pull he’s.

Gon na have all the strength right here, but when his color is all the way up here, if he does something tries to run away, maybe he sees a squirrel. Then I’ll, be able to control him a lot more so having your dog’s, collars up nice and high behind the ears um, so that’s.

Where I’ll sit right. There sit yes good and then for leash. I really like these bioassay and leashes, because I do a lot of leash dragging saw way. They still have the leash on the dog, but they’re plastic.

If they get into anything, you can just wipe them off so for dog. Just put it on there like this and for a basic leash holding. What you are gonna want to do is to have the dog on the left side of your body and to have the end of the leash.

In your right hand, just like so, and your goal with your dog is to have this Jay shape. You see how there’s slack here. You definitely do not this clip. Always you want it to always be pointing downwards, because the reason for that is as soon as this starts to get any tension where you’re gonna have is something called opposition reflex.

So when there is tension put on something, his immediate reaction is to have tension pulled backwards, so he’s. Gon na want to pull on it a lot more so in the other reason, for that is you want to give your dog free will because you they have to make their own mistakes and they have to learn by themselves.

You cannot force them to do anything that also will not be a learned habit so and the leash in your right hand, in your left hand, and what you’re gonna want to do. If you want your dog, if they have a problem with pulling something that you can do that I love to do that, doesn’t require any eCall is to simply do a couple of back and forth.

So I ‘ Ll demonstrate that right now and I want talk because it’s kind of windy, but you just want to do some back and forth and what is called the dropped, your keys type of thing, so the dog has its own agenda.

He’s like we’re going on this walk and we’re going in this direction. But you want to be the one that’s in charge, and so what you’re going to want to do. Is you’re gonna start walking in that direction? Dogs, probably gonna, take off way in front of you start pulling on the leash and all that you’re gonna do is oh crap.

I forgot my keys and you’re, just gonna turn and walk the other way. You don’t, wait for your dog. You don’t, acknowledge them. You don’t. Do anything. You just turn and walk the other way, and then you start walking and then you just do it again.

You’re, like oh shoot. I forgot my phone this time and then you walk the other way. After doing this, probably around like six to eight times the guy was gonna get really cognizant of the fact of. Like oh shoot, I need to pay attention to what my owner is doing, because I don’t want them to walk in the opposite direction, and then I get that tug on my leash.

So here’s. What that would look like, and you can see that I’m turning away from him, I’m, not turning into him at all. If you have a dog that’s not used to, I’m healing beside you, you probably won’t have that problem, but still the same thing I like to turn away from them.

So turning to my right side to be able to do that, so the next thing is just for a basic sit. This is a little bit harder to demonstrate because Atlas is trained for that. But if you do not have a trained dog, what you want to do is when they’re standing.

You want to just give a little tug like this. The butt of a dog goes opposite, then what the head does. So if you have a dog that doesn’t know a sit command, then pulling up on the leash like this will make it the butt go the opposite which is down, and you can also give them just like a brief like tap.

So up Atlas good, just pushing down like this, while also pulling up on the leaf like so so once he sits, and the button needs to be completely on the ground, not hovering, not anything else fully on to the ground anytime, that there is a behavior that You, like you, want to reward with yes, so this is where teaching the dog English comes into play, because obviously, dogs, don’t, know English.

That would be like if I tried to teach you something, and I started talking to you in Spanish and you didn’t, know Spanish. You’re like I have no idea what you’re saying. Am i doing something good something bad? So you want to give the dog yes, because that’s, going to be your correct and you want to give them some form, usually like affection or a treat, so they associate when you say the word.

Yes, that they did something good and that they’re, going to continue getting that reward, so teaching them English. Yes, no and good are the words in English that you want to teach them, which is called marker training.

So yes, when he does something good and start marking soon, as they have the behavior that happens over and over again, you want to mark it with a word sit: yes, good, no come heal whatever it may be.

So when I say heal, I don’t have to go on the leash at all. He knows that he is supposed to come and follow me. He be on my left side and he needs to not be in front of me at all. He knows that if his collar goes past, my hip, that that’s going to be a no and that he’s, going to have a negative consequence to that.

So yes, good does a good boy good down! Yes, good! Yes, good! Good job there’s, a good boy, good job, all right, and that’s, the basic things that I have now so when the dog is trained so right now I’m kind of building his drive.

He really wants this toy and any dog that you’ve ever been with when they have a drive when they see something it’s really important to be able to control that and over anything that they are going to listen to.

You so kind of building that play drive a little bit. Yes, yes, good boy, good, yeah, good, oh yes, good! So what we’re gonna do is we’re gonna? Have them in a sick man? And I’m, going to purposefully.

Ask him to ignore that play Drive so sit sit, but yeah go over here. Come here! Yes, good! Yes, good! There’s, a good boy right, yeah, good boy! Come here! Good out out! Yes, go ahead and another thing with dog training is that a lot of it comes down to tone of voice.

This is especially difficult. I notice with women when they’re trying to train their dogs. Dogs obviously do not know English. They know what certain words sound like, but the tone of your voice is, I want to say, like fifty to seventy-five percent of it.

So if you say that’s, a good boy that’s, a good boy that’s, a good boy, it all sounds exactly the same. But if you say yes, that’s, a good boy sit. It’s distinctly very different. So when you give a command make sure that you’re using your command tone of voice up up.

Yes, good ready, go boy! Hey you come here there’s. A good boy! Does a good job good ready? Yes, good boy ready sit down, I like to use the break command, which is essentially it’s a release. So if ice tell them to sit it’s, not sit stay because stay implies a second command and dogs.

Aren’t very good with overlapping commands you just it’s, just the gift that keeps on giving. So was. I saying oh yeah overlapping commands, so you just want to give them one command a sit that’s, a sit for, however long I tell you to if I give you another command or if I tell you to break so, a break is a Release from everything go, be a dog go do whatever, but if I tell you to down you need to down, and then you know whatever else from there, so all commands need to be indefinite.

There is no stay command, kill good. So now we’re gonna go over the eCall. This is something that I think that everyone should be educated on, whether or not you want to use. It is your own choice. Obviously, but there is a difference in between shock collars and eCollege.

Is the first thing that I want to start with you? Yes good, so shock collars has only a couple of different levels: they have au au and super oww-eee. Collars, however, have levels in between the ones that we have is the mini educator that is 0 to 100 heal, and so humans can typically only feel the e collar like on their face at around a level 5, whereas in a dog can definitely feel that whether Or not, they choose to ignore it, depending on their level of loading totally up to them, but an e collar is just a stimulation, so it’s, not a shock.

It’s, not something that is electrocuting them. Anything like that. It’s a stimulation, so that’s. The first thing. The second thing is that an e collar is not for the average everyday just owner. This is definitely something that you need to be educated on there, typically around, like $ 100 or so we have this one, the many educator and it pairs to both dogs.

So I have Atlas an Aurora. You can do 0 through 100. You can do sounds, and you can do vibrations, stop sit good down, so the way that the e-collar works is that when I give a command, if they do not do the different things that I the different behaviors that I would like to see from them, then They have a negative reward associated with that, and so when I say the word know they know they did something wrong and they have.

You know amount of time if I choose to give them that to correct their behavior before they get a negative reward for that. So if I’m, telling them to heal and they’re, not healing, then I can talk with them essentially through this, because for dogs, everything that they do is through physical and through body language.

They don’t. Do a lot of verbal or auditory so that’s? Why teaching them English is very, very important and can be really difficult. So for the e-collar, you want to make sure that it’s up nice, high and tight, and whenever you first start with a dog before you start just using the e color, you want to see what their level of loading at, because there are Some days where your dog just has a bunch of energy, they’re, just super excited to go outside, and so they’re.

Loading is gonna, be out like a 20, so to speak, and then other days they’re. Just like okay cool, like we’re, just gonna go outside everything’s, chill bruh, and then they can feel the e-collar out of six.

So it’s. Super important to know where your dogs level loading is every single dog is going to be different. Aurora is she doesn’t, feel it until a higher number, but when she feels the e-collar, she whips it into shape.

Superfast Atlas. However, he is super sensitive. He’s, also very vocal to an e-collar. He’s, just a vocal dog in general, but he will definitely just ignore the e-collar if he sees something that he likes and he’s.

Just gonna be like. I can feel this call right now, but I’m choosing to ignore you, because his loading is so high, so that’s. Why it’s really important to know their baseline is and the way to do that is by putting the e-collar on turning it on and right now I have it at a level six, and so what I’m going to do Is I’m just gonna look at Atlas and I’m gonna press the button and I’m just gonna look for any reaction out of him, so I pressed it as you can see.

No behavior. So up to the level eight nope, absolutely nothing, not even a blink up to 12. Oh yep! There we go so he’s at a level 12 right. Now he’s, not very loaded at all. Aurora! Let’s see so I’m gonna bring it back down to a 6-nothing level, 8-nothing level 12 yep there we go just a little bit, so they’re.

Both pretty lowly loaded right now overcome time work me. You girl, good, yes, good job, good job, that’s super important to see because you want to treat the e-collar almost like a speeding ticket. So the way that this was once explained to me was that if you’re speeding and say that the speeding limit is only 20 and you’re going at 25.

If the police officer gives you a $ 400 speeding ticket, you’re, like oh shoot, f that I am never going to be driving again $ 400 speeding ticket for only going 5 miles per hour over. Definitely not, however, if the police officer gives you like 100 150 dollar speeding ticket, you’re like doing like that really sucks like.

I really need to be watching my speed all the time, even if it is only five over. So you want to make sure that you get that baseline before you correct them for something, or else they’re just going to be completely shut down and that they’re gonna lose all motivation and it’s.

Also going to kind of break their trust in you, so knowing that baseline, so if they can feel out of 12, I don’t want to put it at a 18. I don’t want to put out 20 anything over that at all. So those are some of the beginning tips that I would have, and I would definitely start with doing the e-collar way their favorite word’s.

So if that’s tree, if that’s food, so if they do something correct, yes reward, if they don’t follow the command, do it at their base level. So I would do at like a ten or twelve and I would say no and then I would reset.

I would give the command again and then, if they didn’t do it, I would say no correct and then I would restate the command once more until they got it and once they do it good reward with food. Did it bad Ecola correction? A different way that you can do that without the e-collar is actually with the leash, and this is some of the beginning things that I really love to do it’s not as effective.

In my opinion, it’s. More of just like nagging your dog, but what you can do is if a dog doesn’t, do something that you don’t, like you, just give a simple just pop on the color, so that’s. What this would look like, so if you didn’t know, I would just simply pop like that see.

He knows what’s up down. Yes, good good! It’s, a little harder with the dog that’s really trained. But as you can see, all that I am doing is just going a quick just how they’re slack like this and then just quick pop up yeah.

I’m, not correcting you, but a years ago boy. He’s, a very good boy. He’ll good, stop sit down, yes, good, so the really great benefit about having dogs that are able to be off leash for me anyway. The greatest benefit is that they’re able to live their highest life is that they don ‘

T have to be tethered to you. They have a lot more confidence which is really important in dogs. It’s. Also, you can just have a lot more fun with your dog, and I think that is a lot of dog owners. We want to have the freedom to be able to take our dogs places, have them living their best life and be happy, and so just like.

In situations like this, I can fully turn away from them be focused on talking and just know that they’re, going to be holding that command and they’re gonna be safe. So if anything does happen, I can recall them to me and then, if maybe put leashes on them, but they get to live their highest and happiest life.

I get to have fun with my dogs and have a really great relationship with them. So gonna release them and let’s, see who can win this race yeah good job, buddy yeah you would you would didn’t you yeah [, Music, ], [, Music, ]
